Past Projects

The following are a sample of projects I have either led or supported:

Vice President Academic at Concordia University College of Alberta

  • Provided the vision for and led the development of the Concordia Welcome Center that opened September 2012. Enrolment Services was restructured to enable Concordia Recruiters and Admissions Councilors to be cross-trained and positioned in a comfortable space with a casual design that serves students in a welcoming setting.
  • Provided the vision for and led the consolidation of Concordia’s communication and marketing efforts and formed the Concordia University Relations department. This group is responsible for institutional branding, new media, website, marketing, recruitment and all aspects of internal and external communication and promotion.
  • As part for Academic Planning process provided the vision for and led the development of the Learning Portfolio Initiative. The portfolio will be a structured, program-length project that encourages students to demonstrate five inter-related, complimentary abilities: thinking, discovering, contributing, expression and learning.
  • Provided the vision for the creation of the Concordia Website Team that redeveloped Concordia’s website on the WordPress platform. The team has also embraced all forms of social media to engage and connect potential, current and former students.

Director of Faculty Enrichment at Abilene Christian University

  • Awarded Wave I of the Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC) grants that will be used to scale ACU’s mobile-enhanced inquiry-based learning (MEIBL) program demonstrating its effectiveness in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs at two additional schools — Del Mar College and California University of Pennsylvania. Wrote the grant proposal, designed the development and implemenation plan, and planned and conducted the weeklong workshop for fourty participants that started the project.

  • Provided the pedagogical theory, instructional design and learning support for the ACU Connected, ACU’s mobile learning initiative. Assisted in the design, development and support of: Mobile Learning Workshops, Mobile Learning Fellows research, ACU Connected Conferences and Open Houses and all other activities related to the development and promotion of mobile learning.
  • Designed and conducted the Creating Significant Learning Environments (CSLE) –Core Summer Institute. Upon completion of the CSLE Institute, faculty will have designed and built a student-centered ACU Core course that incorporates significant, active and collaborative learning.
  • Provided leadership, instructional design and course development for the Leadership of Digital Learning program, an online graduate certificate designed to produce innovative K-12 leaders for the 21st-century classroom. Developed and taught two of the six fully online courses.
  • Provided the pedagogical theory, instructional design and learning support for the ACU Common Core. The Core is a group of innovative, team-taught courses providing the basis for a distinctively different educational experience.
  • Provided the instructional design and learning support to aid faculty in moving their face2face courses into a fully online or blended format offered through ACU Summer Online

Manager Educational Technology at Lethbridge College:

Director of Information Technologies for the Terry Paranych Group and Re/Max Elite, one of the largest and highest volume Real Estate firms in North America. Responsibilities included:

  • Website Usability, Function and Design consultation.
  • Information system design and implantation
  • Network design, administration and technical support

Information systems consultant and Internet strategist for the IN Network International Office (INIO), a Global mission and relief non-governmental agency (NGO). Responsibilities include:

  • Global Internet Presence design, development and deployment
  • Design & management of the Internet and Intranet communications strategy
  • Design of electronic communications (email, newsletters etc.)
  • Design & management of the global intranet
  • Design of the document management system
  • Design of the image depository
  • Design & management of the project management tracking system
  • Information system consultant for all of the Front Line Countries

In addition to working with the IN Network International Office (INIO) Dwayne is also the Information systems consultant and Internet strategist for IN Network Canada (INCA). Responsibilities include:

  • Global Internet Presence design, development and deployment
  • Design & management of the Internet communications strategy
  • Design of electronic communications (email, newsletters etc.)
  • Design & management online donations and e-commerce

Webmaster and e-commerce consultant for Prospect CDs and the Project Approach, educational content providers. Responsibilities include:

  • Internet Presence design, development and deployment
  • Design & management of the Internet communications strategy
  • Design of electronic communications (email, newsletters etc.)
  • Design & management online course registration and e-commerce

System engineer, network designer and administrator and information management consultant for ABC School Studies, digital photography studio.

Chief Information Officer for ZeroHype Technologies

Project management of attack and penetration testing, vulnerability mapping and audit report creation for ZH Security Services.

Design and development of multimedia educational CDs.

Network design, hardware deployment and technical support of an online grocery.

Conversion of a variety of traditional face2face course to online/web-based format.

Network design and systems integration for a several schools within the Edmonton Catholic School district.

Network design and system integration for several Law and Engineering firms.

Development of the University of Alberta Special Sessions (Spring and Summer Session) website and online calendar.
