Overarching Course Goal

Learners who work in the area of educational policy and practice will be able to navigate the emerging educational and legal challenges of a knowledge society where most K-12 students are deeply immersed in online communication, having grown up as “digital natives.”

Learners will define digital citizenship and discuss the
difference between citizenship and digital citizenship.
Learners will also identify the nine elements of digital
citizenship.

citizenship (post to portfolio). Also, discuss why net
neutrality matters to education.

Wrap-up: Pulling It All Together

 

Learners will demonstrate knowledge of digital citizenship.

· Culminating Project – Develop a project that demonstrates
synthesis and application of course knowledge. The project
must express knowledge of all nine
elements, however the project can focus/concentrate your
project on one or more elements. The culminating project
consists of three parts – a brand/mantra, a presentation,
and a reflective essay.
